I am immensely elated to meet you all again by presenting myself as Kamal Kishin Loungani, the Founder and CMD of KIT Group imbibed with extensive know-how on various trading practices and diverse knowledge across the business verticals covering textile, sports industry, paper industry, oil & gas, and chemicals & polymers. In the momentous 20 plus years of corporate journey, I have grown as an acclaimed change leader in trading, known to have taken ‘leaps of faith’ with various business ventures by breaking conventions and have emerged successful. The journey has been quite amazing with continuous tests for my grit, guts and gut. Right from the year of inception in 1996, KIT Group has always been on the rise. It has grown into a USD 300 million enterprise having diversified business interests and equipped with a strong workforce exceeding 100 employees including each one of you.

Dear Colleagues,

In the recently concluded French Open final, we were all witness to the making of history by Rafael Nadal who crafted his magnum opus by exhibiting one the most dominating performances in the history of tennis by defeating his opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to win his 10th French Open Title. Rafael Nadal has won as many 11 Glam Slams in his illustrious tennis career spanning for a decade. I wonder what lessons can we learn from his focused pursuit of excellence and a few thoughts came to my mind:

It gives me joy unspeakable to address you all in this wonderful evening, as all of us are well aware of, these days there is so much talk about increasing productivity and researchers are going overboard trying to introduce newer and newer gadgets, tools and systems to improve productivity. My recommendation dear colleagues is that ‘a simple change in attitude’ can bring about immense change in productivity.

What really is a crisis!

A crisis is an unpleasant surprise. In fact, life is full of surprises; some pleasant and some unpleasant ones. Some affect others, some affect us, some affect all and some seem to affect me alone. Not surprisingly, there are more pleasant surprises than unpleasant ones, but the impact of the unpleasant ones leaves such a strong influence that it squeezes out the afterglow of the pleasant ones.

Obstacles come in our way, they tend to stop us from reaching our goals, try to apply break to our journey, keep hurling oddities at us from quite unexpected times and avenues, many of them take us by surprise and some leave us in utter shock. In my 3 decades long professional career, I have come across so many challenges. Some of them really tried to bring about great disarray into my life, some took me by shock – the ones that were baseless. Like for example a decade ago, there was a news item in one of the dailies – Exporter’s fraud sends DRI on a nationwide hunt.

In my early days of entrepreneurship, I used to be confronted by pessimism, there were bouts of fear and anxiety until I came across with a wonderful phrase of Jack Canfield -“Everything you want is on the other side of fear”- I was fascinated by the strong meaning the phrase has carried. That was a moment of realization when all my doubts and pessimistic thoughts started to fade away and came in the ever reverberating attitude of optimism. Henceforth, there was not looking back in terms of ideology, I gleefully enrobed myself with the cloak of optimism. Even during the trying times, when a whole lot of odds stacked against me, I took the role that of a teacher of my life book and I used to constantly tell my heart, let’s get to the other side of fear. I would like to share some of those carpe diem moments with optimism.
